Have you ever had an good idea that you've started to work on and develop, only for someone to do exactly what you've done (but better) as soon as you started? No? Well you should try it, it's pretty humbling. I was working on a Wordpress Theme about two months ago, and I had to make some changes from the online theme editor, and I was thinking 'wouldn't it be great to get some syntax highlighting on this?!'. Just as ...

Oops. After I left Active Webdezign shortly after the last post, I'm afraid I did neglect this website for a long time, I was quite burnt out with the whole web malarkey. Luckily, now I'm at university doing a related course, enjoying learning C, turning for my website design lectures at least (tend to do work in them anyway), so it's all flooding back to me. Plenty of sketches on a new design, problem is I'm saving them for the ...

One my favourite sci-fi authors, Arthur C. Clarke, died this week at the age of 90. The visionary behind classic stories like 2001: A Space Odyssey and City and The Stars (which also happens to have been my read of the India trip) , he is an outright leg-end. Long may his tales endure. The title of this post is one of his three 'laws'. Wiki it, foo!

The Return!!

March 7th, 2008 - Life

I have arrived home (last week to be accurate) safe and sound. India was pretty phenomenal, definitely somewhere I'll go again one day not too far down the line. Back at work now, straight into solid coding, which seems quite distant to be now. More coming up for RR. Also, thanks to Peter for the badge.

Don't have time to write much to be honest, we're all sharing a computer out here due to constant power cuts. I'm posting my reading list though, doing plenty of that out here, passes the time nicely.

Pressure on the British Youth

January 14th, 2008 - Life

Not sure what the situation is in the rest of the world but I clocked yesterday why all the young people in Britain are dissillusioned, lazy, and don't give a flying fuck while watching Mock The Week last night. We're told our whole academic life to do well in exams, study hard, get good grades all for that on exam or shot at university, and what does the older generation/media generally say when we consistently get better grades? 'Oh they ...

Classic!

January 11th, 2008 - Life

Talking about TV shows we watched as kids in the office today, nearly forgot the name of my all time favourite show, Bravestarr, but i remembered all the more famous ones, such as Superted, Bananaman, Teletubbies (not really). Interesting. Leaving for India in the next few days!

Dans Paris

December 22nd, 2007 - Life

Got back from my two-day trip to Paris with my girlfriend yesterday, had a lovely time, and read a very good book called 'The Forever War', the first book if the Science Fiction Masterworks collection I'm trying to get through. One interesting thing I thought I'd share was seeing the Eiffel Tower. It is really, really big, and I found it quite funny when I realised, while looking at it from the bottom, that my brain couldn't quite muster the ...
