I’m actually quite surprised. The first few days at school didn’t seem quite as arduous or difficult as I had imagined. The first two days or so were basically leading the my first outing for this term’s touch rugby activity: always a favourite of mine, it tends to attract those rugby players who aren’t drafted into the hockey season (i.e. the lumpiest of forwards, sprinkled with some nippy backs). The other new item on my agenda is my new and ‘exciting’ duties as part of the second wave School Staff this year. Being School Staff is beneficial in a few minor, yet personally fulfilling ways:
- You get to go to meetings and feel important.
- You get to wear you’re choice of suits
Cue the rainbow ties and white suits.
And that’s about it, where as the responsibilities are more copious in number. Since there are so many of us this year, we don’t quite get equal standings in terms of duties, though the Monitors (Heads of Houses and Heads of Schools) get slightly less. My jobs at the moment are:
- Wednesday: Dining Hall duty at 10:50
- Thursday: Bags Duty at 12:30
- Saturday: First Lunch Duty at 12:30-1:15
None of these are quite as archaic as they sound. The ‘Dining Hall Duty’ basically consists of me and an comrade in this long war standing around whilst the rabble of the younger years buzz about, collecting foodstuffs to feed themselves with during the morning break, but is basically a chance to socialize. ‘Bags Duty’ means making sure that the bags that are thrown around at lunch eventually make it onto the shelves available. Yes, this will be as mundane as it sounds.
All in all though, a good start to the term, with the exception of my ICT project, where at the moment I have to backtrack across 120 odd pages to sort out screen shots which are okay, except they all don’t have the task bar at the moment*Violent frustrated tantrum*.
Radiohead = Great
I’ve actually started listing to Radiohead again recently. I finally got around to burning ‘OK Computer’ back into my new iTunes library, and it’s constantly playing now, along with ‘Kid A’ and the surprisingly enjoyable ‘Pablo Honey’. PH isn’t often talked about, but is actually a quite enjoyable and clever soft rock/pop album if you give it a bit of time. I’ll tell you something else: even from about 200 metres away in uncomfortable seats, seeing Radiohead is still my joint best gig alongside the Gold Circle to see the RHCP at Hyde Park. They are that good.
Back at the secret lair…
I hate delays when manga and anime comes out. It almost an Obsessive-Compulsive thing I have that I have to get my anime and manga fix at the tail end of the week. So far I’ve watched Bleach 110 (the new arc has started, and it is going to be fantastic). And that it. I had to re-read the old Bleach manga, so I now I know what is going happen. Curses! I know it inhumane to wish that the damn creators shouldn’t take breaks, but at this point in time when such cliffhangers are at the end of the last chapters I’ve read, I’m fit to burst.
I promise I’ll write something decent about website design at some point… just got to get time to do anything to write about.
Finally, everyone should not that how much fun this year is going to be for me and my Wii.
