The good ship
I was looking through my posts the other day in the WP admin, and turns out this post will be my 70th *cheers*. I started blogging because I love to write (the quality is questionable, I know), and I needed to fill the void that appeared once I had finished GCSE English. I was writing ‘News’ posts on the old RedRoot since about this time last year, but Wordpress came in around November, and besides all those copied from my old site, I think my first post (looks like I deleted it now) was early December. There isn’t really a reason I’m saying this, but I’m quite surprised I’ve managed to keep writing and getting a good number of visitors1. Anyway, I think what I’ve come to realize is that most of the time I don’t have enough to say to justify a full post, so I wait for a while until I have a collection of things to ramble on about. The problem there is the slug-like speed of new posts, so I have a plan for the re-design in the summer: Short posts, with just a few sentences and interesting links, and throughout them, ‘proper’ posts which are styled differently and have a ‘read-more’ link. What I’m still deciding on is how to present them: separate, or in one big post dump. Also, I’ve got the technical side sorted, but I’m still pondering over how to present it style wise … hmmm. I’ll get back to this at the appropriate time.
Just a few more things to write about in this post2. Firstly, I’ve found a few more exciting web comics that I can wittle down my hours following. ‘Under Lock & Key‘ is one: It’s fairly new, but the story and characters are quite fun, so I’ll definitely be following this one. The other one I discovered is even more intriguing: it’s basically a rather nutty take of a certain fairy-tale and fairy-tales in general, and it all has a slighty Kingdom Hearts-esque feel: it’s called Ever After, and I would recommened having a look if you have some time.
I’ve often experienced strange things when I spend too much either with technology: sometimes I think about pressing Ctrl+Z when handwriting something, and I played Pokemon so much that I used to hear the music when the Gameboy was switched off. Now, that was a bit personal. My point I’ve been playing my new DS game to the extent that I’ve burned the screen onto my retinas: I see it when I close my eyes. The time-consuming beastie I am talking about is the mighty Puzzle Quest. I have started to refrain now as my exams drawing ever-closer, and my retinas have recovered, but this combination of a fun puzzler avec RPG elements (including a ridiculous amount of monster encounters) is viciously potent. There is a fairly PC demo about on, and I’ll post it as soon I get round to it, but this game is fun is most senses of the word. Yum.

I don’t know what it is, but I love writing, too. And I’m a bit of a pack rat, so I like the thought of building up a collection of posts to someday look back on to see what I was thinking. I usually don’t make it past 100, but I’m almost at 200 currently. Quite an accomplishment for me.
As for the design, I’m sure you’ll come up with something. It’s such a good feeling to know that you can always change it. Probably the most satisfying thing about being able to build your own site.
