The Routine

A little pseudo ramble today.

I sometimes find myself getting subconsciously stuck into routines, be they work routines (or lack thereof) or maybe conversation patterns, but mainly some sort of pattern as to what I do at a certain time of day. One of these I tend to let myself sink into is what I do when I open my internet browser. I have all the things I need to look at first in the bookmarks toolbar folder, so that every time I go on for the first time that day, I just cycle through one at a time (in a specific order), checking news, posting items, generally getting up to date:

  1. My Netvibes: Houses all the RSS Feeds I subscribe in tabs such as General (that’s informative), Blogs, Design Feeds and CSS Galleries
  2. Here: Check the dashboard for anything new here (not likely) and Wordpress News.
  3. My Inbox (like I’m gonna link there)
  4. DeviantArt: I normally have the task of vigorously sifting through new messages and deviations every day, but I also like to check out the new Web Design entries.
  5. Facebook: New one this, but dangerously addictive
  6. Webcomics: Only the creme of the crop, such as Penny Arcade and VG Cats, to follow the stereotypical trend, but also more obscure stuff like White Ninja.
  7. Anime Sites: I watch enough anime series that I need to follow a few sites to make sure I catch that weeks episode or manga release, so I group them all in one folder and open them all at once with a swift smash of the middle mouse button. If you’re looking for a good streaming site, try ‘CrunchyRoll’.

Well there’s my list. That was therapeutic. Blergh.

I think the downfall of facebook is when they opened up to the public. It’s still a much better option than MySpace.
