Work: Caribbean Unpackaged
Caribbean Unpackaged is a hotel and villa rental company that lets properties in the Caribbean, who came to Active Webdezign looking for a revamp and a rebuild of their current site. My role here was the build of the new main site's back-end, and design and build of the admin. This included creating a complex search system where the user could find villas based on date, price, activities available, number of rooms, among other criteria. The user could also make a request on a villa, which would cause an e-mail to be sent to both Caribbean Unpackaged and the villa owner whom Caribbean represented. Another major feature was porting all of the data and images from the MS-Access based ASP .Net old site to the new site, which was built in PHP and MySQL.
From a personal standpoint, this is without a shadow of a doubt the biggest project I have ever worked on, even if it was an arduous task in the end. I learnt a lot, especially about interface design when I had to design the admin, and the real world implementation of classes. The fact that the colours on the site change depending on what island you were on was a favourite touch of mine and the main designer.
